Bonhoeffer was one of the outstanding moral heroes of the 20th century — perhaps, the last great figure of WWII whose story was largely unknown to most Americans until Glenn’s friend Eric Metaxas wrote the best-selling biography that introduced Glenn to this amazing person (Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy). Bonhoeffer shows us that having courage to speak out against Evil and to resist it is the essential thing. For him, it ultimately meant execution at Hitler’s direct order for his efforts to save Germany from the Nazis and the Jews of Europe from total destruction.
