Our classic rugby fabric is a traditional 10 oz. knitted cotton jersey made in one of Oregon’s oldest family-owned knitting factory. They have been producing some of the country's highest quality cotton knitwear since 1921 and are one of the last rugby manufactures in the United States.
These rugbies are incredibly soft and 100% custom made to our specifications. We have kept all the classic details of a rugby with a continuously sewn covered button placket, authentic rubber buttons and a rugby twill-cotton collar for a sturdy rugged look.
Naturally, we thought the perfect sport to feature on our new rugby would have to be George Washington’s favorite outdoor activity, Foxhunting. He was an avid fox-hunter and devoted more time to the sport than any president who succeeded him.
We made the patch on brown felt with a hand cut, hand placed shield and banner with MOUNT VERNON, the name of George Washington’s estate, across the top. We also included a fox in running motion to show the chase, a tree to symbolize that Foxhunting is an outdoors sport, and an embroidered horn to show how they communicated with the hounds and 1791 between them.
